Ramayanam
Legendary stories explain that Lord Hanuman played a phenomenal role in the Ramayanam epic story. Lord hanuman had the strength, and bravery to fight and protect Sita (wife of Lord Rama). Lord Hanuman was send by his chief Sugriva to help Rama find his wife. As per the legendary ramayanam, she was kidnapped by Ravana- the evil king. Hanuman rescued her and for this Lord Rama blessed him with a lot of boons and a lot of immortal powers.
Hanuman Jayanti in Different Places
In many places, Hanuman jayanti is celebrated in a different devotees.
In the state of Karnataka, the day is called as Hanuman Vratam and is celebrated on Shukla Paksha Trayodashi of the Margashirsha masam.
In Tamil Nadu and Kerala, it is observed on Margashirsha Amavasya
In Andhra Pradesh, it is said that the festival and its subsidiary prayers take place for about 41 days. The festival begins on the day of Chaitra Purnima and finally closes on the tenth day of Krishna Paksha of the Vaishakha masam.
